The program began with a 2-day hands-on colorectal surgery workshop at Kenyatta National Hospital in collaboration with Colorectal Team Overseas, during which 19 children were successfully operated on, including 12 with Hirschsprung disease and 7 with Anorectal malformations. This was followed by a 1-day interactive symposium at Gertrude’s Children Hospital. The CTO surgeons, led by Dr. Levitt, shared great insights on the management of children with ARM and Hirschsprung disease. Participants were able to discuss on local care and challenges in management of these patients. A total of 75 participants attended the bothe the workshop and interactive sessions, with surgical procedures carried out by combined teams of local and international paediatric surgeons, residents, and theatre nurses. The sessions provided valuable hands-on experience, exposure to diverse surgical techniques, and opportunities for interactive learning. The patients showed good post-operative recovery. Overall, the event significantly strengthened both patient care and local surgical capacity, highlighting the value of continued training and international collaboration in paediatric surgery.
