Trauma Resuscitation In Kids
(TRIK) workshop

The Kenya Association of Paediatric Surgeons (KAPS) hosted its inaugural Trauma Resuscitation In Kids (TRIK) workshop from June 24 to 25, 2025, at Travellers Beach Hotel in Mombasa. The workshop was supported by the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP) with Kenya being the first country to host this workshop in East and Central Africa. The TRIK workshop is a Trauma and Emergency training module designed to enhance the care provided to children in need of life-saving emergency interventions.. Aligned with Kenya’s Emergency Care Policy, the workshop supports efforts to ensure quality service delivery and strengthen human resource capacity in paediatric emergency care.The inaugural TRIK course engaged 27 participants and featured an esteemed international faculty, including Dr. Sherif Emil, Dr. Karen Gripp, Dr. Dan Poenaru, Dr. Justina Seyi-Olajide, and Dr. Natalie Yanchar. This hands-on skills training is set to become an annual event hosted by KAPS, aimed at advancing paediatric surgical practice through practical sessions and professional networking.
