The Kenya Association of Paediatric Surgeons (KAPS) is pleased to announce the award of the M. James Warden Scholarship 2025, a prestigious scholarship recognizing outstanding academic achievement, professional commitment, and dedication to advancing paediatric surgical care in Kenya.

The scholarship supports tuition fees for training in Paediatric Surgery, empowering recipients to further their expertise and make a meaningful impact on the health and lives of children requiring surgical care. Through this initiative, KAPS continues its commitment to strengthening paediatric surgical capacity and improving child health outcomes across the country.

Recipients are selected through a competitive process and are expected to demonstrate excellence, determination, and a strong commitment to service throughout their training.

Dr. Rachael Njeri is honoured to receive the M. James Warden Scholarship – 2025 to pursue Paediatric Surgery at the University of Nairobi. Her passion for the specialty was inspired by witnessing, during her internship training, how limited access to quality paediatric surgical care in Kenya has led to children succumbing to surgical conditions that could otherwise be mitigated through early intervention. She enjoys working with children, sharing that “children are so genuine and they lift my spirit.” This life-changing opportunity will enable her to actualize her dream of becoming a paediatric surgeon without the financial strain associated with training. She is deeply grateful to KAPS for this opportunity.
